Releasing Turtles

Our main goal at Turtle Rescue Team is to release healthy turtles back to the wild.  Prior to their release, we perform a complete physical exam to ensure the turtle is fully recovered and ready to be released. We will try to release the turtles where they were found.  However, in instances where the turtle was found on a busy street or highway, we will release them at a safe location nearby.

Turtle Rescue Team is a non-profit organization run by veterinary students at North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.  We provide medical, surgical and husbandry services free of charge in the hope of releasing rehabilitated turtles back into the wild.  Every year, Turtle Rescue Team sees and treats between 200 to 300 wild turtles, reptiles and amphibians.
